Mastering The Art of Eating

Everybody eats. It is a basic component of our survival. However, we all eat different food and we all have different ways to eat that food. Some people always keep their knife in their right hand and keep their fork in their left hand. Other people like to cut and then switch the fork to their right hand. Many people also eat at different speeds or hold food in their mouth longer than others. If you eat a starch like pasta, chew it up, and hold it in your mouth for a while, you can taste the enzyme in your saliva (amylase) breaking down the polymers into sugars. The food starts to taste sweet. Not everyone eats their pasta like this, but it is certainly one way to really taste it. My point is that all of these variations highlight a depth to the dining experience. There are different ways to eat and taste food.

I love food and everything that surrounds experiencing it. I love the moment a new flavor hits my tongue and I can roll it around and taste it from different angles, letting each part of my tongue learn something different. This blog is about that experience. It is about everything related to that, from cooking to restaurants to interesting food-related events. This is about the pursuit of mastering the art of eating.
